The FREE 21 Days of Guided Meditation course

A couple of weeks ago….

….I posted about the section on the website that is entitled

‘The Inner World’.

Within that, I make the case that between our inner world and our outer one, the former is on balance in much more need of attention, exploration and cultivation.

Time spent in meditation is the time spent cultivating and understanding our inner world, our inner most selves. Meditation is like the light that helps us see. And when we can see, when we are not confused and not in darkness, we are in a happier and more peaceful state.

For me, the last 20 years becoming more and more familiar with meditation has been an incredible journey of self knowledge, which has definitely helped me out of the darkness.

When I meditate, I see it as a means of coming home.

The mind in it’s non-meditative state is very effervescent, full of thoughts, endless simmering chatter, a lot of the time random, which has the effect of ‘taking me away’. I am sometimes lost in a sea of mental projections, a hazy sludgy mish-mash of worries, plans, concerns, ideas, voices, emotions, lies, illusions….a big needless waste of energy that can also be incredibly harmful.

Meditation is simply coming away from, or seeing through all of THAT.

‘THAT’ is accompanied by a physiological state whose harmfulness only becomes apparent when we are not in it i.e. when we enter the meditative state.
The sprawling mass of anxious, taught flesh and sinew, the searingly hot, darting mental processes that release constant waves of stress into the bloodstream, the volume of thoughts turned up past too loud….

…..all just falls away……when we meditate.

We don’t do it just ‘to feel good’ but that it is a consequence of doing it. And the reason why it feels good is because it feels real. It’s the feeling of reality which is always a simple, uncomplicated experience, in contrast to the complications of a disturbed mind.

Ironically, the meditative experience, far from being vague and intangible, is something far more solid than the fluctuating, transitory madness of the mind.

Ok, now that you have indulged my rather flowery depiction of meditation, let’s get down to brass tacks for a minute.

In my courses I give a no-nonsense approach. Meditation is explained on a neutral level in practical terms that anyone can understand and do.
This can be tested and experienced for yourself.
It’s about technique; how to sit, how to breathe, how to focus the mind or move the conscious awareness.

The beauty of it is that these simple things are the things that do give rise to the experience of true calm and sense of ease.
There is no doubt about it, learning to meditate in this way gives you a much needed break from the worries of the mind, sometimes even the worries of the body.

I hope you can join us on the course.
